The VSKYLABS Guimbal Cabri G2 Project

The VSKYLABS Guimbal Cabri G2 Project for X-Plane Flight Simulator

The VSKYLABS Guimbal Cabri G2 Project:

The development of the VSKYLABS Guimbal Cabri G2 Project for X-Plane 11 was approved by Hélicoptères Guimbal. Although acknowledged by Hélicoptères Guimbal, it is an independent VSKYLABS project which is not affiliated with and/or endorsed by Hélicoptères Guimbal.

Project's Highlights:

  • Project under constant development: Development plan and evolution are including EVERY aspect of the project (3D modeling and textures, flight dynamics modeling, fmod sounds, interactivity, systems etc...).
  • Highly engineered, robust helicopter simulation which pushes X-Plane's out-of-the-box features and flight dynamics model to its extent.
  • Highly detailed visualization of the Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter.
  • Engineered as a 'Native X-Plane aircraft': Maximum X-Plane compatibility without the use of 3rd party plugins or external coding dependencies.
  • Day/Night VFR instrumentation.
  • Electronic Pilot Monitor (EPM) - Simplified yet authentic and effective EPM display.
  • FULL-VR mode feature, enables to operate and fly the G2 without physical hardware for the pedals.
  • Built in compatibility with the AviTab plugin for 3D and VR AviTab visualization and interaction.
  • Optional Experimental/LSA grade autopilot included.
  • Perfect for new helicopter pilots and for helicopter conversion for fixed wings aircraft pilots -  due to its docile flying characteristics and simple yet effective design features.
  • Highly responsive support forum.

The Guimbal Cabri G2 Helicopter:

The Guimbal Cabri G2 is a two-seat helicopter designed by Bruno Guimbal and produced by Hélicoptères Guimbal (France). The G2 initial demonstrator flew in 1992 and entered commercial service in 2008. It received type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in December 2007. In 2015 it received type certification from the FAA, and began operations in the US.

The Cabri G2 design was implemented also in the Okra 1200 tactical VTOL drone, developed in a joint effort of Guimbal and EADS and initially presented at the Paris Air Show in 2003.

C-GELP & C-GUTE

The default VSKYLABS Cabri G2 variants are carrying the BC Helicopters Cabri G2 (C-GELP & C-GUTE) code and paint scheme, and other detailing attributes. BC Helicopters are a Canadian helicopter flight training school, operating the Cabri G2 (also the R44 and the R66). They have a very exciting YouTube channel (called 'Pilot Yellow') in which they share their daily routines, flying practices and world wide adventures. They recently broke a world record, participating in the EPIC Global Heli Tour, an around-the-world record breaking adventure.

I highly recommend visiting their YouTube channel as is a very useful resource for practical information regarding helicopter flying and specifically the Cabri G2.

Please note that VSKYLABS / VSKYLABS Guimbal Cabri G2 Project are not affiliated with BC Helicopters.

  2. Very interested to see you having a crack at a full on helicopter. XP11 is certainly the right sim to develop it for, looking forward to more news as it comes.

    1. Hi :)

Following the Pilot Yellow youtube channel. BC Helicopters are very cool and professional! And so as Mischa :) Release is expected during September 2018. Hope you'll like it! And thanks for the feedback! :)

  4. Really looking forward to this coming out. Am currently training on a Cabri. Instructor was very confused when I hovered the Cabri in first lesson then I told him I have a simulator set up at home (using R22 in XP11). Once this Cabri sim is released I will give my instructor a go on it, he has 24000 hours heli flying experience. Will be interesting.

    1. Thanks! One thing to consider is some of the core differences between real life and flight simulation...especially Desktop PC based simulation. As a real life pilot and instructor, with thousands of flying hours, there are so many limitations in the simulator, yet we consider it "ultra realistic". The best "match" for such evaluation is that a real-life pilot who is also a trained sim pilot. This combination helps to get over some needed gaps in realism perception...

Real life pilot with no flight sim flying experiece (never flew in a sim) will have hard life to control an aircraft, fixed winged or heli...until the needed adaptation will take place.

Anyways, thank you very much for your feedback! :)

  5. So excited to buy this when you're ready to release it! You do such amazing work and your customer support is exemplary (not many devs give free updates for life and I LOVE that about VSL). So many other "big league" devs could really learn from you.
Curious, where's that hillside helipad? That's awesome!

    1. btw, your product quality and support are the reasons why, when you release a new product, I look for justification to buy your products. "Their" products may be good, or even great, too, but their attitudes cause me to look for reasons to NOT support them. Keep up the excellent work and attitude and you've got a dedicated customer for life.

    2. Thanks :)

Hillside helipad is from Propstike Studio - Quatam River Airport (https://propstrikestudio.com/). Amazing place!

Thanks again for your kind and warm feedback! :)

  6. I'm also looking forward to the release of the Guimbal Cabri G2. Two times in my life I already could have a 30min trial course together with a comercial pilot. And: it was a Guimbal Cabri in Germany (Augsburg)! Unfortunately I don't have the possibility and the money to fly so often with the real one, and so at the moment I fly the Bell 407 in X-Plane 11. I'm really curious how real will be the feeling with the Cabri then! - May I ask what scenery you used where the wind turbines can be seen?
Thank you for your excellent work. Kind regards, Marcus from Germany.

    1. Hi! Thanks for sharing and for your kind words :) the scenery is VSKYLABS BASE-1. It is a in-house scenery used as a high elevated test bed for flight testings of the various VSKYLABS models. It is constantly evolving. In the future, it may be available. The VSKYLABS Cabri is designed to achieve an authentic experience. I hope you'll like it! Thanks again! :)

  7. Hi, as the others already commented I can't wait as well when your Capri is finally released! And could you tell me (us) please what is the scenery with the big antennas? Is it an observatory in the arctic or antartica? Thanks a lot, and keep up the excellent work!
    Best regards!

    1. Hi :) All of the VSKYLABS projects are under constant development. Update notifications will be sent to all buyers, and it is good to check your version every once in a while to see that you haven't missed one.

Currently, updates are done by signing in to your store account and redownloading the project.

Upcoming update for the VSKYLABS Guimbal Cabri G2 is planned for the upcoming week (within a few days).

      Thanks!
